Sermon Thought: 2/7/16

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves; we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.11 For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

2 Corinthians 4:7-11 (NASB)

Paul reminds us that in all things, good and bad, we can overcome through the one who gives us strength. That’s what it means to be in HIS kingdom. Philippians 4 says:

11 Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.14 Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my affliction.

Remember, we may feel like we have no hope but He has no limits. When we are weak He is strong. To live out the Lord’s Prayer means that we remain focused on Jesus and put our complete trust in him to see us through.

Grace and peace.
